Casa T´HŌ Concept House

Casa Tho is one of the most beautiful places to buy, eat and drink in Mérida and has a prime location just a few steps from the Remate de Paseo de Montejo. It is showcasing contemporary Mexican fashion and design and you should definitely stop by.

Opened in October 2017, Casa Tho includes 10 boutiques, a restaurant (you could also call it a cafe), and an art gallery - housed in a former early nineteenth century mansion.

Occasional events are held, such as a jazz night (check the website for a calendar of events). Does the name sound familiar to you? Casa Tho is named after the old Mayan name of Merida, which is T’hō.

In addition to its own website, you can also find Casa T´HŌ on Facebook and Instagram.

Boutiques and Art Gallery

Similar to Art Gallery Caracol Purpúra, the individually designed boutiques and art gallery are arranged around a central courtyard and merge directly into each other (separated by doors).

As with Caracol Purpúra, you can sit in the courtyard, sip a cup of coffee among large palm trees, and enjoy the feel-good ambience of the all-white interior.

Most of the boutiques are really very small, some with only one table in the middle on which goods are draped. But the same design concept runs through every single boutique and it's also fun to just look at all the things.

The boutiques offer fashion, signature jewelry, perfume, art, furnishings, stylized linen clothing, house decor, homeware and handicrafts. The Art Gallery Galeria Urbana displays Mexican art (paintings and sculptures).

The selection in all the stores is exquisite rather than cluttered, and the price level, like the ambience, is of course a bit upscale.

Restaurant T'HŌ Aperitivo

Casa Tho combines shopping in boutique stores with the opportunity to have somthing to eat or a cup of coffee on the spot in a pleasant ambience in between or afterwards.

While this is common in shopping centers, there are not so many stores in the city center that make this possible. This is one of the things that makes Casa Tho so charming.

Restaurant T'HŌ Aperitivo offers Yucatecan specialties and is part restaurant, part bar, and part café. There are only a few tables in the courtyard and only half a dozen hot dishes on the menu, (such as salmon carpaccio or pasta with shrimp) but they do have gourmet qualities.
