All about La Isla Mérida Malltertainment in Mérida

La Isla Mérida Malltertainment is a modern shopping center situated in a beautiful park area in the northern part of the city (located in Cabo Norte). It is the largest mall in Mérida and, in my opinion, also the best.

There are many restaurants and La Isla Mérida offers a great outdoor area to walk around and have something to eat or drink. But of course there are also plenty of shopping opportunities. The mall is pet-friendly and ideal for leisurely strolls.

Just like in some other large malls, you will find a Cinépolis movie theater and there is a gym. Sports World is not directly connected but is located behind of the huge department store Liverpool.

Outdoor facilities

Outside, a large (man-made) lake stretches the length of the mall, there are pools of water with large bronze turtles, fish and birds, life-size bronze crocodiles cavort on the ground and fountains shoot up into the air.

Opposite (on the other side of the lake) there is a new residential area, which is gradually being expanded. The north of Mérida now consists mainly of these rather uniform new development areas.

The whole complex is very elaborate and beautifully designed. La Isla Mérida Malltertainment also offers water skiing on the lake (for about 400 pesos).

You can be pulled by a zipline in a large oval across the lake (even with a few jumping opportunities), just like at The Harbor Lifestyle Mall. Live events are hosted, and the mall offers a small playground for children.

Food

There is a a giant food court with indoor and outdoor seating options. Starbucks, Häagen Dasz and Santa Clara (my favorite ice cream parlor) are not missing. There are two sushi restaurants (e.g. the Izakaya) and many other options.

By the way: In the sushi restaurants in the shopping malls - like at Izakaya - you usually get very large sushi rolls (although the fish ratio is usually rather low). Two sushi rolls are enough for most people to get their fill.

And what about shopping?

Oh, I almost forgot... Of course, shopping is not neglected either: Well-known stores in the clothing sector are, for example, Billabong for clothing and accessories from the areas of surfing, skating and snowboarding and Calvin Klein Underwear (the name says it all).

H&M operates one of the more than 4,000 existing stores worldwide, Zara is on site, the American fashion suppliers Guess and Tommy Hilfiger are on site, the Spanish casual fashion brand Pull & Bear and the French luxury brand Longchamp.

What else is there to find? High-quality fountain pens, wristwatches and jewelry are offered by Montblanc. Further jewelry can be found at the Danish label Pandora.

You may find new sunglasses at Ray-Ban. The best drones are available from DJI, the global market leader. Liverpool operates a huge department store.
