Porfirio's
The restaurant Porfirio's (in the north end of the city) advertises the best Mexican food in Mérida, on Tripadvisor it's usually ranked in the top-10 out of almost 900 restaurants in Mérida and the reviews are excellent on all counts.
There are a dozen Porforio's in Mexico, besides Mérida, for example, in Playa Del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum. Unfortunately, we can't personally recommend Porfirio's. But only because we haven't been there yet - we will make up for it and are already putting Porforio's on the list here.
Porfirio's in Méida is located in the relatively new Harbor Lifestyle Mall in the north of the city. TripAdvisior also awarded Porforio's with its Travellers' Choice.
Porforio's is part of the Anderson's Group and offers contemporary Mexican cuisine and says it is innovating contemporary urban cuisine and combining homemade recipes with accents from all corners of Mexico.
For starters, for example, there is seared New York steak, flamed tableside with mezcal and accompanied by avocado. For the main course, for example, enmoladas (chicken in almond mole, onions, basket cheese and creamy goat's cheese).
Perhaps you are also in the mood for a grilled salmon with mustard butter, chard, spicy soy sauce and corn? There are also tacos in many variations, menus especially for children and delicious desserts.
Ample parking is available, free Wi-Fi and there is a supervised children's area in the restaurant. Every Friday and Saturday you can enjoy a live show with mariachi. You can reserve a table online at Porforio's.
